Until recently, over one hundred thousand vehicles were entering and exiting Dakar, Senegal, using on double lane highway that was often burdened with heavy traffic delays and broken down vehicles. The high transport cost threatened the capital's ability to serve as a regional economic hub. The Dakar Diamniadio Toll Highway, the result of a partnership between the government and the development community, has greatly improved access to goods and services, and improved commute times for the Senegalese workforce."
